Windows for Burns’ Night

As part of this year’s Burns’ Night celebrations, David Borthwick and Hugh Bryden, members of The Stove, a new volunteer-run arts venue in Dumfries, put together an inspired project they called Windows for Burns Night. They took as their stimulus a few poems that Burns scratched on panes of glass at The Globe Inn, Dumfries, apparently with a diamond ring.

They then invited poets to write some verse on a piece of transparent Melinex, which were then installed in windows around the town: at The Stove, The Globe Inn, Burns’ House, and The Coach and Horses.

You can see my poem ‘Pursued By Well-being’ in the photograph above: top row, second from left.

Selected poems will be published in an illustrated book produced by Roncadora Press.
