My friend Ellen McAteer has gone mad and opened a poetry book store. Here’s how she explained herself to the doctors:
We are tell it slant, a new bookshop specialising in poetry, spoken word and visual poetry, based in the centre of Glasgow. If you are a poet, spoken-word or visual artist or publisher with your own books/pamphlets/CDs or visual poetry objects, we will sell them for you! Commission negotiable. Come get yourself some shelf space! We are also looking for performers for future events.
You can post items via onecubeortwo gallery, 134 Renfrew Street, Glasgow, or call 07720 526977, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on commission etc.
My new pamphlets are now adorning the front window. Pop along, if you’re in the area. There aren’t many poetry book stores. They need your love.
Tell all the Truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —
